FAQ

What are Heralogie underwear made of?

Our products are made primarily of beechwood modal (Tencel) and Organic Cotton. Tencel is sustainably harvested, softer and more comfortable than cotton. A single fiber of Tencel is 10x finer than a strand of hair. Organic cotton was our material of choice for the gusset because it is suitable for delicate skin.

What's the difference between you and other period panty brands?

We've designed and tested our products to optimize for comfort and absorbency. Our fabrics are made of high quality materials and are designed to be more comfortable and therefore effective than our competitors. Our unique fit and blend of fabrics sets us apart.

Do they smell?

The absorbent fabrics in the gusset (crotch area) are anti-odor and anti-bacterial.

Does it feel wet or uncomfortable?

It should not. There are quick-dry fabrics in the gusset that help with this. The fabrics are very thin and the ones touching your skin are all-natural.

Can I wear it with a pad/tampon/menstrual cup/menstrual disc, etc.?

Yes. Some users prefer not to wear the undies alone or have a very heavy flow. You can wear as backup if you prefer.

How long can I wear them?

This depends on your comfort level and flow. However, we recommend 8-12 hours maximum. Wash between uses.

How does it work?

Multiple layers of organic cotton are used in the gusset (crotch region). The last layer is made of heat-treated, "laminated," and therefore waterproof fabric. These cotton layers absorb liquid, keeping you and your clothes dry. Some styles have the special fabrics continue all the way up to the waistband in the front and back, ensuring full protection. (The styles are the Audrey Bikini and the Stacie Brief.)

Use these undies in addition to a tampon/menstrual cup, or on their own, depending on your level of flow. They are meant to substitute for a medium or light pad (depending on the style). Our Audrey and Stacie undies can hold up to 3-4 tampons’ worth of liquid (up to 40mL). Our Cloud Bikini can hold half a tampon and should be used for very light spotting or in conjunction with a tampon or menstrual cup.

Why would I use this when I can buy tampons and pads?

Over 202,000 tons of plastic a year is generated by disposable menstrual products. Switching to period panties will help cut this amount down. The average menstruator generates about 330 pounds of plastic in a lifetime via disposable products. Using period panties will save an average of $6,300 over the course of a lifetime. Additionally, these undies are much more comfortable than wearing plastic pads or tampons.

Are Heralogie products safe?

Yes. All fabrics in the undies have the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, a third party which tests for toxic and carcinogenic substances.

Where are Heralogie products made?

Heralogie products are made in a small woman-owned, ethical manufacturer in Asia. Employees at the company get health insurance as well as fair pay.

What is Tencel?

Tencel is a luxury fabric that is sustainably made of beechwood trees. Yes, trees. We searched far and wide for a supplier that would use a sustainably sourced, yet skin-friendly fabric for our products. Tencel is more absorbent and more breathable than cotton, and really, really soft. It is also quite durable.

Tencel is also known as Lenzing Modal. Modal is a super soft fabric that is widely used in clothing. But not all modal is made equal. The processes the manufacturer undergoes to create the fabrics could be destructive to the environment. For example, we buy from Lenzing, which makes sure that the fibers come from renewable forests. They also make sure that their emissions are low and that the chemicals used to process the fabric are recycled. They have highly regulated procedures that ensures the fabrics are made as sustainably as possible.

Are there going to be more sizes coming soon?

Yes! Because we are still a small company and just beginning to navigate the market, we have to start on a smaller scale (XS-2XL). We absolutely plan to have a more inclusive range of sizes. If you have any input on potential sizes/styles/colors you would like to see in our inventory, don’t hesitate to reach out at hello (at) heralogie.com

Will you do more products that cater to different aesthetics like boy shorts?

Yes, we are in the process of designing these and will announce arrival on social media.

Will you ship internationally?

Yes, in the future we definitely plan to do so. However now, being just a small company, we don’t offer it currently.

I am an influencer. How can I partner with you?

Please email hello (at) heralogie.com for inquiries.

How do I wash these?

You can wash these in a machine (in a delicates bag preferably). However, you must hang dry. Hand washing is preferred. You can also rinse quickly before throwing in the washer. Do not bleach, use fabric softener, iron or dry clean. Cold water is preferable for dissolving blood proteins. Wash with like colors. You may want to wash the undies by hand the first few times to check for color fastness.

Different washing machines also have different strengths. We recommend starting out on a lower setting (delicates) to preserve the lace. If the undies don't get cleaned properly by doing this, hand rinse before or after. Always hang dry, preferably in a dry and well-ventilated location.

Do you offer returns?

Due to the nature of the product, we do not offer returns at this time. Please don't hesitate to ask questions on fit and function before making a purchase: hello (at) heralogie.com.
